Lambda has raised one billion dollars in private, short-dated debt to acquire Nvidia AI chips, which the company will lease directly to Microsoft. Arranged by JP Morgan Chase, the financing terms reflect confidence in rapid deployment schedules and immediate revenue generation to service the borrowed capital.
Infrastructure financing
This transaction follows a series of similar financial maneuvers aimed at expanding GPU infrastructure for dedicated enterprise clients. Earlier, Lambda closed a one billion dollar secured credit facility, alongside a separate loan of 926 million dollars designated for Nvidia GB300 GPUs to support ongoing contractual commitments.
Market context
Beyond current equipment loans, Lambda is reportedly engaged in discussions for a three billion dollar pre-IPO round. These developments follow a significant venture capital raise last November, which valued the enterprise at 5.43 billion dollars.
The broader technology sector shows a similar reliance on borrowed capital to sustain the current infrastructure expansion. Financial institutions and technology firms globally have accumulated over 400 billion dollars in AI-related debt, illustrating the heavy capital requirements necessary to support next-generation computing facilities.
