Meta launches enterprise artificial intelligence platform and hires MongoDB chief executive

Meta has announced the launch of a new corporate division named Meta Enterprise Platform. The initiative is designed to bring the company's artificial intelligence tools and advanced models to businesses and corporate clients.

To lead this new effort, Meta hired Chirantan Desai, who previously served as the chief executive of database software company MongoDB. The announcement follows the recent release of Muse, a personal assistant tool created by Meta that handles tasks like drafting emails and scheduling travel.

Technology stack for business

Under the new enterprise platform, Meta plans to offer a comprehensive suite of tools for developers and organizations. This technology stack includes the Muse assistant, the Meta Business Agent, the Muse application programming interface — a set of rules allowing different software programs to communicate — and Muse Code.

Desai stated that artificial intelligence will redefine how organizations of all sizes operate and serve customers in the coming years. By packaging advanced models and autonomous agents into deployable products, Meta aims to help companies scale their internal operations.

Market response

Following the announcement and his sudden departure, shares of MongoDB dropped by more than 17 percent. The database provider named Dev Ittycheria as its interim chief executive while the board conducts a search for a permanent replacement.
