Elorian releases its first visual reasoning model, Glimpse
Palo Alto startup Elorian has introduced Glimpse, a new visual reasoning model designed to repeatedly inspect images and videos during the reasoning process.

Elorian, a startup based in Palo Alto, has released its first artificial intelligence model, Glimpse. The model is currently available as a research preview through an application programming interface — a set of rules allowing different software programs to communicate — and a chat interface.
Most multimodal models look at an image only once, convert the visual data into numerical tokens, and then reason entirely in text. Glimpse uses a different approach. Mid-reasoning, the model can crop into a specific region, extract frames from a video, or run code to measure and compare elements. Elorian calls this mechanism a visual scratch space, comparing it to a human pinching to zoom in on a smartphone photo.
Chief Executive Andrew Dai noted that existing systems often struggle with nuanced visual environments, such as board games with unique iconography or text-free assembly diagrams. While similar crop-and-zoom techniques were introduced in other models in 2025, Elorian designed its entire system around this capability.
Performance and cost
The startup trained Glimpse using a few hundred graphics processing units — specialized hardware designed to accelerate computing tasks. According to company evaluations, the model outperforms certain frontier systems on scientific chart reasoning and short-form video captioning.
Glimpse is priced at $0.60 per million input tokens and $3.00 per million output tokens.
Applications and future goals
Initial target users include companies handling large volumes of video data, such as robotics firms, scientific laboratories, media organizations, and creative businesses. Over the longer term, Elorian plans to expand from visual recognition into physical action, including direct robot control, with the goal of leading all standard visual reasoning tests next year.
