
Anthropic secures compute infrastructure through agreement with Nscale
Anthropic has entered into an agreement to lease significant computing power from infrastructure firm Nscale. The arrangement adds to a series of recent infrastructure investments across the industry.

Anthropic has agreed to lease approximately $45 billion in artificial intelligence compute capacity from Nscale, a British infrastructure company founded in 2024. According to sources familiar with the arrangement, the six-year deal will utilize Nvidia’s upcoming Vera Rubin chip system, which combines six distinct components for advanced processing.
The computing capacity is scheduled to begin powering Anthropic's services in late 2027. The power will be drawn primarily from Nscale's flagship data center located in West Virginia.
Broad infrastructure expansion
This agreement represents the latest in a sequence of major compute partnerships pursued by Anthropic over the past eight months to support its research and model scaling efforts.
- In April, the company expanded its partnership with Amazon to access an additional 5 gigawatts of compute, alongside extended arrangements with Google and Broadcom.
- In May, Anthropic established a computing agreement with SpaceX, drawing capacity from two data centers.
- In July, the company signed a $5 billion compute-related agreement with AMD.
- Earlier this month, Anthropic secured a six-year supply of cloud computing power through a $10 billion agreement with startup Volta, utilizing a data center in Norway.
Industry-wide compute demand
Anthropic's infrastructure investments reflect a broader trend across the artificial intelligence sector. Major laboratories and technology companies, including Google, OpenAI, and Meta, are actively securing large-scale compute capacity to train and deploy increasingly complex models. As the demand for specialized hardware grows, infrastructure providers and chip manufacturers continue to form alliances to support the next generation of AI development.
